I finally did it! I had saved up enough to put that down payment on the camper of my dreams. I took my jar, went to the bank and deposited it, came home, and called the camper company. Sadly, they had closed early that day, so I sent them a Facebook message and was told they would call me at 10am the very next morning! 10am came and I got a message that the call would be as soon as they could because they had to stop at the doctor’s. At this point, I was very disappointed. I didn’t get their call until 3pm that day and I decided to go another way. I’m definitely a believer in signs and it just no longer felt right.
I found a nice used wooded teardrop within a few hours of me in the Facebook marketplace. I also put in a call to Gateway Teardrops which was also about 3 hours away that I had found the night before. James answered the phone, he was great! Answered all my questions very easily and told me what they had on the lot. They had one new squaredrop available but it was just a little out of my price range. I set up the meeting for the wooden teardrop for the next afternoon and followed up with James via email to get some additional pictures as I’m mentally trying to figure out how to come up with just a little extra.
I kept myself up half the night mulling over the two options. Get what I really really want–the new squaredrop leaving me no money for upgrades, or the wooden used teardrop, which, after consideration, would have ended up costing me much much more with modifications.
Friday morning comes. I went to the bank to pull my cash back out in preparation to meet the wooded teardrop people when the email came through from James. I took a leap and negotiated with James via email in the bank parking lot. It was decided, I was buying it! Off to Conway, Arkansas!
I couldn’t be happier! Ron helped me when I got to Conway that afternoon. Ron and James are brothers who own and build at Gateway Teardrops. And I used hardly any extra gas on the way home. Time to go through the camping gear, figure out what stays and what goes, and pick up some accessories. Now… what will I name it?
