Trail Summary: Once you get past the gas infrastructure near the fire tower, Hog Hollow is a lovely trail. If you started at the covered bridge, you could hike about 2 and a quarter miles in and turn around to avoid the pipelines. Well marked with white blazes, beautiful pines and hemlocks through much of the hike, stream closer to the covered bridge. Quite a bit of elevation near both trailheads and then the trail levels off for most of the hike. On June 13, 2022, a derecho went through this section of the forest, and you can see the destruction about a mile from the fire tower. The downed timber is being salvaged and the impact is managed by the Division of Forestry. At just under 5 miles, down and back, with over 700 ft of elevation, I would consider this a moderate trail. Check AllTrails for conditions, it is sloppy in the winter.
